THIS HURTS!
What hurts…: Ankle sprain; inner and outer ankle pain and area between outside ankle from pinky toe to ankle.
How you hurt it…: The first time I rolled it was playing in a tennis game. It swelled up and went away after a couple months. I belive it didn’t heal properly because I retore three ligaments while applying some pressure on it playing a friendly basketball game.
When you hurt it…: The first time was in the middle of June in 2007. The second time was late December, which seemed to be the one that affected the ankle the most.
Your pain level (1 is low, 10 is high pain): around a 5 or 4.
Your age and overall health…: 19 years of age and in good health.
Any other information you feel is relevant…: My brother had a similar sprain and we both have been looking for help and would really appreciate the help from you.

How you hurt it…: i hurt it while palying soccer, but its been about a 2 weeks now and it still hurts

Ankle Sprain
REHAB YOUR INJURY BY…
Active Rest: Use your ankle when able and pain free. If you can walk but not job, then just walk.
Icing: 15 minutes for 2 to 3 times per day, with at least one hour in-between.
Elevate: Try to lay on your back and place a pillow under your legs and ankle.
Compression: Using compression sleeves/stockings or ankle braces to protect your ankle can help re-injury.
Toe Alphabet: On your back, hold your leg up behind you knee and write the alphabet with your big toe. All this should be pain-free. If you pain progressively gets worse, you may want to get an x-ray.
Stretch: Find a step and drop your heel off the end of the step and hold the position for 15 seconds. Switch legs and stretch other side. Do this 3 times.
Strengthen: When you can walk on your foot pain free you are ready for heel raises. Stand on a flat surface and lift your body weight. Hold on to something to keep your balance. Lift with both feet 20 times and repeat for 3 sets. Once you can do this pain free, then repeat the heel lifts with one foot bent up and off the ground. After this becomes pain free, slowly work your way back to your activities.

I sprained my ankle …
I sprained my ankle 6 days ago…and everyday its felt better, i can stand on it with no pain and do a little walking..but when i twist my ankle it still makes a popping noise and feels really strange…im able to stretch it up and down just not able twist it side to side…i wanna know WHEN do i know i can start rehab with out injuring it again….do i wait till there’s no popping?

well that was a week ago. its stopped now.
what i did was got a big bucket, filled it with ice and cold water, put gloves on and put my ankle in there and used my hands to move my ankle around for about 20 minutes, after that i left my ankle raised.
just keep with the old r.i.c.e. method, then when the swellings gone down do the rehab exercises and your ankle should be better soon enough.

ok so i sprained my right ankle during a soccer game and it twisted outward. I heard a pop and my ankle felt lose, but i got it fixed and its been a week.
now however, there is pain in my shin or around it or near it.
the swelling has decreased and i can walk better.

lol do only skaters come to ankle topics lol. i have a problems too. every time i do a tre flip sometimes my foot doesn’t have enought time to come all the way on the board and lands littlebit off the board the the tip and that hurts. i’ve been through t so much ankle sprains that i have to always land perfectly on the bolts with my popping foot. at least i know these streches will help my landings. thank LORD!!!

It’s true that if it’s only the ligaments which are strained, then maybe it is enough to just do anything but what hurts. i did so. unfortunately, it wasn’t only the ligaments, which had damage, but also the bone. so i would use my feed as i could and was even encouraged by the fact, that the ligaments went better and better. still i had probs and after 3,5 weeks i went to see a doctor and he’d notice that the bone has damage. it couldn’t rebound cause i used it all the time. now i have a cast.
