why do i have ankle problems and what is it called?

May 30, 2010

well since i was nine i was having really bad ankle problems. i wemt to the doctor so many times i ranked up 2,993 and counting. im tierd of the same answer we will find out or we dont know or it is bone growth. i know it is not bone growth cause none of my friends had this problem when they were growing and my hole family is healthy. my grandma is 84 and still going sking. also it hurts so bad i cant walk or stand or go to sleep or relax and it is getting on my nerve and im done crying.
also it is not puberty cause i am done with it and why would it be that when i was nine and i am 5,4 and 147 pounds.so it wont be weight?

Since it sounds like you are a preteen going through puberty, I will try to help without rehashing the doctor’s diagnoses. From what you have said, I can imagine the doctor took x-rays to look for fractures or bone spurs. The diagnosis of bone growth could be from the lack of finding spurs or fractures, as doctor’s are trained to look for abnormalities in growth, and it is common for people going through puberty to experience different rates of growth for different parts of their bodies. One question, did the doctor check for possible ligament or tendon injuries?

Shin Splints I have had right ankle problems since May 2009, and the pain has been bad!?

April 17, 2010

I just saw a podiatrist bc the pain has not got much better, so now he has me in a boot and taking Meloxicam, icing, and I tape it. He has scheduled me for a follow up appointment in 6 weeks. Anyone know if they will get better after a year of trauma?

Have a look at www.walkwithoutpain.com.au -> info sheets -> shin splints for some info. Usually you would need orthotics for just ‘plain’ shin splints. You may have a neurological component if the fascia is being stretched downwards by foot pronation and pinching the nerve as it passes thru the fascial hernia, going from deep to superficial. If this is the case, there will be a small, pill sized area of exquisite pain~ 1 hand width up from the inside heel bone on the shin bone. I haven’t ever used a boot for shin splints. Seems excessive

Is swollen ankle indicative of problems in kidneys or liver?

Question about ankle problems?

March 28, 2010

Well I ran track all 3 years in middle school and my sophomore year in highschool.
My ankle started hurting and i still kept on running.
Even through extreme pain, I didn’t stop.
Now about 9 months later, it hasn’t healed.
I have never had a serious injury problem, so i don’t know what to do.
Lets pretend that seeing a doctor is out of the picture.
Can you guys help me?

I strongly suggest you see a medical specialist for your symptoms. The physician can then perform diagnostic testing and then properly diagnosis your current condition. At that point, an appropriate treatment plan can be determined and aid in your recovery.

Good luck.

question about ankle problems?

March 21, 2010

Alright so a little about me, im 14 5,6 and like 120 lbs
I stayed inside most of the summer and didn’t get much excersise
I dont drink milk and havent for around 2-3 years (maybe a calcium deficientsy?)

ok so the problem is both of my ankles hurt VERY bad, I can walk and mess around and stuff but I cant run or player soccer in P.E and today when i kicked the ball into the goal it Hurt pretty bad :’[
and the side of my foot started hurting

I dont know why they hurt but both of them hurt for no reason, i havent sprained them for along time and they just started hurting for no reason..o and i wear skate shoes, so maybe poor ankle support? but ive been wearing skate shoes since i was like 6 and ive never had problems before.

O and my wrist hurts, whenever i let it go limp then make it straight again it pops.

I suggest that your parents take you to a podiatrist to have the feet evaluated. Once there is a definite cause for the problems that you are experiencing something can be done about it. There is not enough information given to be able to state what might be wrong. It might be something simple or complex but without having someone check all that will happen is that you will continue to be in pain.

Ankle Problems. Help!!!?

February 25, 2010

I sprained my ankle about 4 months ago and it has been giving me problems every once in a while. It would get stiff or be in a little pain. But 2 days ago it started hurting and is in almost as much pain now as it was before. I wear a brace but it does not help. I did not fall or hit it recently so I can’t understand why it is still having these problems. I don’t really have time to stay off my feet because I have a busy schedule. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

You may hurt it while your sleeping. Especially if it is laid down at a funny angle.
Little rest will not give your ankle time to heal properly.

Try to keep it bandaged and supported during the day.
Maybe even at night.

Unfortunately it may never fully heal, i keep twisting or pulling the muscle in my left ankle, as it is already weak, it keeps doing it.

I sprained my ankle last September and I was wondering if I am more apt to spraining it again?

February 20, 2010

I sprained it in during a soccer game and I was wondering if I am at a bigger risk now than I was before I sprained it. I had never had any ankle problems before that sprain.

Yep the tendons get weaker, i sprained my ankle on a ramp then the same ankle in a baseball game, so the more u sprain means the more
likley ull be to get another 1

ankle problems 6 months after surgery 8 months after breakage?

January 19, 2010

I snapped my fibula and chipped off my ankle bone (atleast i think he said i CHIPPED it after xrays.. but i was on loads of morphine at the time as the doc had to reset my leg when i got into casualty dept.) and had to have an operation a few days later as a result (had ONE screw in my ankle joint so it musnt be just chipped?) and was put in a cast, after the inevitable painful lightweight cast change/staple removal and many months of healing i’ve noticed my ankle ‘juts’ out some what when i walk on it and i’ve still got a limp, swelling and pain.. is this normal this long after an op/break? has anyone had the same problems post ankle break?
p.s it isnt INTENSE pain its electric kinda pain and i get a dull ache after hours on my feet at work. ive been to the docs twice.. a walk in centre near by where i live and my actual doctor. they both say the pain is from scar tissue/healing tissue but i don’t believe them. it’s getting worse now the winter is setting in. All the physio i’ve had is the doctor telling me to rotate my foot whenever i’m sitting down. not good huh?

I’d get another opinion. The bone may not have healed or healed poorly. Eight months is a long time for an ankle fracture to still give you problems. Usual time frame for an ankle injury such as yours is eight weeks and then you should be back doing the things you want to do by three months.
